Planning tips for a small but perfectly formed luxury bathroom
2nd September 2022
When you are scrolling through websites for bathroom inspiration, there are a wealth of gloriously opulent images of luxury bathrooms online. Natural stone freestanding baths placed before panoramic ceiling to floor windows with a view to die for, a huge walk-in shower and space, lots of space – breathtaking bathroom designs.
For people wondering where to buy luxury bath products, these beautifully stylised images can be somewhat problematic. It can be hard to visualise how you can translate the images you see on the screen into a bathroom solution for your own home. Making the best use of the space available to meet your individual needs is the priority, but there is no need for it at the expense of style.
Thankfully, the Luxury Bath Company has several choices of natural stone freestanding baths and stone bathroom sinks designed for the smaller bathrooms in mind, but planning a small bathroom requires more than the best stone bath products. Here are The Luxury Bath Company’s practical tips to help create an efficient luxury bathroom that oozes luxury, style and sophistication:
- Make a scale drawing of your bathroom to explore the possible arrangements for the toilet, bath, sink and shower enclosure. Explore all options – moving a bath to a different wall, for example, can change the dynamic of the bathroom altogether.
- Choose a slightly narrower and shorter bath than the average sized bath (1700 mm). Losing a couple of centimetres here and there has a huge impact on the available space in a small bathroom.
- Adequate storage is vital for maintaining a luxurious feel to your bathroom. Clutter always makes a room feel smaller. A storage cupboard can also house a countertop stone bathroom sink, or you can choose a wall hung unit – if you can see the floor underneath, it adds to the illusion of space.
- Resist the temptation to install a small shower enclosure. Always go for the biggest size the room can manage, try not to go below 900 mm² (please note, our custom shower trays can be cut to suit your unique specifications). If your bathroom is just too small, consider a shower over the bath – it is not a style compromise.
