International Bath Day – 14th June 2021

27th May 2021

#InternationalBathDay2021

From Brighton to Edgbaston, Bradford to Chelmsford, Cardiff to Newquay, Edinburgh to London – bathers of the United Kingdom, join with the hammams of Turkey, the onsen of Japan and the jjimjilbang bathhouses of Korea to celebrate International Bath Day.

A day when we share our collective love of baths and the divine rituals of bathing.

International Bath Day is celebrated annually on 14th June – believed to be the date when Archimedes the Greek mathematician, scientist and scholar had his Eureka moment. While having a soak he had the famed epiphany: the volume of an object can be measured by the amount of water it displaces – pure genius.

Archimedes’ brilliance is undisputed, but The Luxury Bath Company would like to shine a light on the role of the bath within this historical tale. How else could Archimedes have achieved such a Zen-like state to gain such clarity? A good long soak liberates you from the norm, reinvigorates and restores, relaxes and balances, providing a sanctuary for the soul. The bath – the quiet and unsung hero of this scientific breakthrough.

While Archimedes is said to have run down the street naked in jubilation, you do not have to. Instead, The Luxury Bath Company recommends you invest some time to think about what you crave from your ideal bathing haven. Turn off your phone, turn the lights down low, ignite a scented candle, choose your favourite bathing salts or bubbles, turn on the taps, kick back and relax.

So to celebrate #InternationalBathDay we urge you to practice selfcare, embrace the opportunity to have a longer than usual bath, use your most luxurious bath bubbles and the softest of towels. What else do you consider as a luxury bathroom essential? Let us know by tagging #MyLuxuryBath and spread the bathing love.
